Defending Champion, Mount Vernon Country Club

ELIGIBILITY

Any VSGA Member Club or Association may enter a team of six female golfers who have belonged to that Club or Association since June 1, 2019.  Participants must hold an active GHIN number issued by a licensed VSGA Member Club in good standing and meet the USGA Rules of Amateur Status. ENTRY FEE/DEADLINE

All teams (six players) are required to pay an entry fee of $1,050 which includes a player gift, all greens fees, cart fees for the first two days of competition, and lunch for all rounds of the competition. Teams who make it to the final day of the competition must pay the remaining cart fees directly to Williamsburg Golf Club prior to competing in the final round. In addition, the VSGA will negotiate a discounted practice round fee with Williamsburg Golf Club. A completed, signed entry form, accompanied by the entry fee must be received in the VSGA office by Monday, August 5, 2019.

FORMAT

Qualifying
Each club will enter three two-woman sides each day.  Each side of two will play an 18-hole qualifying round in a four-ball stroke play format. 10 teams with the lowest team handicap will attempt to qualify for the Championship flight. Of those 10, the clubs with the four lowest aggregate scores will be placed in the Championship Flight and seeded by aggregate qualifying score. All other clubs will be flighted by team handicap and seeded by aggregate qualifying score.

If all teams do not finish the round (e.g. inclement weather, darkness, etc.) clubs will be flighted by team handicap and seeded by team handicap, if necessary. For example, based on the number of teams that complete the round, some flights may be completed as noted above while others may be determined by team handicap.

Match Play
Team winners for each flight will be determined by two days of four-ball matches (one point per hole). Team Captains will submit their sides (A, B, C sides by name) thirty minutes before their first tee time each day.

If any match is unable to finish all 18 holes (e.g. inclement weather, darkness, etc.), all points will be totaled based on the number of holes completed.

Championship Proper

August 18 - Four-ball stroke play qualifying round (18 holes)

• Morning Wave Tee Times: 8:00 a.m. off holes #1 and #10
• Afternoon Wave Tee Times: 12:30 p.m. off holes #1 and #10

August 19 - Round one of four-ball match play (teams that lose will not advance to round two of match play)

• Morning Wave Tee Times: 8:00 a.m. off holes #1 and #10
• Afternoon Wave Tee Times: 12:30 p.m. off holes #1 and #10

August 20 - Round two of four-ball match play

• 9:00 a.m. shotgun start

FIELD SIZE/TOURNAMENT MAKE-UP

The field will be limited to 24 clubs with the lowest aggregate August 1st Handicap Index, except the host club who will be included regardless of aggregate handicap.  A waiting list will be maintained if more than 24 clubs apply.

Clubs may submit an "A" and a "B" team. All "B" team entries will be prioritized by aggregate August 1st Handicap Index behind all "A" team entries.

PRIZES

The Champion team will have its name engraved on the Nancy Hollenbeck Memorial Trophy.  The medalist team and all flight winners will receive a prize.
